Utilizing Kardex PowerPick to Operate Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs)
My first project inspired me to become a technical writer. Initially, I had aspirations to become a training specialist, content developer, or instructional designer. I had left teaching, and got a job at a manufacturing company as a shipping and parts coordinator at Tsugami America, a CNC machine sales company.
My job involved frequent use of equipment called Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) through the Kardex PowerPick computer program. VLMs allowed for increased storage space for spare CNC parts, but the learning curve for their use was steep. I spent 3 months learning the ins and outs of operating the VLM, and after consulting management for areas of improvement in documentation, took on my first project. The research I conducted and hands on experience I gained while using the VLM allowed me to create this document. This document’s provides instructions to new hires on the use of Kardex PowerPick to operate the VLMs properly.
