User Persona/ Audience Analysis Sample

I created a user persona for Hevy, the fitness tracking app I use, and included it in my portfolio to demonstrate my ability to analyze user needs and tailor technical content accordingly. Effective technical writing goes beyond just documenting features—it requires an understanding of the target audience to ensure clarity, usability, and engagement. By developing a user persona for Hevy, I showcased my ability to research user behaviors, motivations, and pain points, which is essential for creating documentation that truly meets user needs.

Hevy is designed for athletes, bodybuilders, and fitness enthusiasts who want to track their progress, log workouts, and analyze performance over time. My user persona focused on a specific type of Hevy user, outlining their goals, challenges, and how they interact with the app. This exercise helped me refine the way technical information should be structured, ensuring that instructions and feature explanations align with real-world use cases.

By including this user persona in my portfolio, I highlighted my ability to apply UX principles to technical writing. Understanding the audience improves documentation by making it more intuitive and relevant, whether for software, machinery, or other complex systems. This example demonstrates my ability to bridge the gap between product functionality and user expectations, a skill that is crucial for any technical writer.
